The full 26-man France roster for the 2026 World Cup, confirmed by Didier Deschamps — with the predicted starting lineup, key players and Group I fixtures.
Didier Deschamps named his France World Cup 2026 squad on 14 May 2026, a 26-man roster for what will be his final tournament as Les Bleus head coach. France head to North America among the favourites, chasing a third World Cup title after their wins in 1998 and 2018.
The squad is built around captain Kylian Mbappe and Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele, with Premier League defenders William Saliba and the depth of PSG's title-winning core running through the spine of the team. Below is the full France 26-man squad, the predicted starting lineup, and the Group I schedule.
Confirmed by Didier Deschamps on 14 May 2026 · Provisional until FIFA's final list on 2 June
France are among the favourites at 5.50 · Tournament winner, top scorer & Group I markets
Expected formation: 4-2-3-1
Deschamps has consistently favoured a 4-2-3-1, with Tchouameni and Rabiot forming the double pivot designed to control midfield in the North American heat. Rayan Cherki and Lucas Digne are pushing for starting spots, so the left of the attack and the full-back roles remain the most open positions.
France's talisman has 56 international goals and is closing in on Olivier Giroud's all-time record of 57. Mbappe scored in both the 2018 and 2022 World Cup finals and will lead the line in North America despite a difficult first season at Real Madrid.
Dembele won the Ballon d'Or after scoring 35 goals and winning the Champions League with PSG. He is yet to score at a World Cup despite featuring in the last two tournaments, and will be desperate to change that in 2026.
The Arsenal centre-back has been one of the best defenders in Europe and is expected to anchor the French backline alongside Dayot Upamecano, combining pace and composure against the world's best attackers.
Deschamps sprang a few surprises. Eduardo Camavinga, who featured in the 2022 final, was left out after an injury-hit season, while Randal Kolo Muani — a 2022 semi-final scorer — missed out after a dip in form. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier was also omitted.
Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike is a notable absentee through a season-ending Achilles injury. Uncapped Lens goalkeeper Robin Risser earned a call-up after being named Ligue 1's best goalkeeper.
